A brief review of the conference on folklore fieldworks

Abstract

This short paper presents an academic conference on “Jangar” epic held in Inner Mongolia University (IMU), P.R. China, on 20-21th October 2018. During the conference participants of the summer expedition 2018 presented final reports of scientific expedition in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In particular this article deals with a report by professor Tai which describes the experiment of IMU scientists on recording authentic data about “Jangar” epic. During the second section of the forum some rhapsodes of heroic epic introduced a show when each of them presented individual style of performing “Jangar”. At the end of the forum a roundtable discussion was provided with the participation of professors and whole academic staff. Participants made suggestions about promoting and preserving traditional epic.
